Building a Sustainable Business with John Pabon
Episode Summary –
Sustainability is an important concept for businesses today, yet there is a lot of confusion about what it really means. People often think of sustainability as just protecting the environment, which is true to an extent. But there's more to it than that. It encompasses economic, social, and environmental aspects and involves finding ways to use resources in a way that meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same.
Sustainability is an umbrella term that focuses on creating a better future, both environmentally and socially. It encompasses steps to stop climate change, reduce water and natural resource misuse, as well as ensuring human rights, labor rights, animal rights, philanthropy, and charity are observed. Professionally this type of sustainability is referred to as ESG (environmental-social-governance). It is sometimes known by its other name: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
In this episode, John Pabon, a sustainability expert, covers the topic of sustainability and its importance for business owners. He explains why sustainability is a must-have for businesses and how to develop it in your organization.
